What is Airships of Aruna?
Airships of Aruna is created by a small team of friends with a common love of pirates, indie art, and silly debauchery. Originally starting as silly characters to pair with each other, it's grown into a mutli-act story that is actively receiving updates and developments.

The comic takes place in Theosia, a country scrambling to find leadership and order after the king’s assassination. In this chaos, the crew of an airship make their living by stealing from the rich. All seems to be going well for the bandits until one day they cross the wrong nobleman and find their thieving life spiraling out of control.

Artist Note and Role
My role in the comic team is primarily lead artist, but I also handle the official website and social media accounts. As lead artist, I translate all the characters into the comic's art style, visualize the script into thumbnails, line all the pages, create characters, and post all the pages. I will also draw promotional and referential images, anything that falls under the comic's art style; I create.

I've always loved creating comics and have made several short, independent comics by myself. I see a lot of scripts and ideas visually and it is a passion I love to explore in my free time.
Typical Comic Pipeline
On the leftis an example of how all of the pages are made. They all start as simple thumbnails on paper before being cleaned up on a computer. They go through 1-3 stages of sketches, depending on how complex the posing is or if we decide on a better frame for the action in the panel.

Next, they are given their final lines as well as any special action text or dialogue, before being sent over to our colorist. These pages are worked on while I start on the next few pages.

The colored pages are sent back to me and I clean up the color, adjust the backgrounds, and generally add final touches. Once everything is done, it is scheduled to post with a promotional image on our social media.
